LED Light Therapy

Free Radicals and their effect on the body

Free radicals are something that is created naturally within our bodies during normal cell metabolism, they are a part of our everyday life.

During normal cell metabolism, these free radicals can be created, playing a dual role as both toxic and beneficial compounds, since they can be either harmful or helpful to the body.

Year-round UV rays, computer radiation, pollution, pesticides, lack of sleep, stress and an unhealthy diet all contribute to free radical creation and damage.

However, when free radicals accumulate, they may cause oxidative stress. While oxidation is a normal and essential process, excessive oxidative stress can be harmful, potentially causing damage to other molecules, such as DNA, lipids, and proteins.

We can fight against free radicals with LED light therapy.

    What is LED light therapy?

Designed by dermatologists and approved by the Therapeutic Good Administration in Australia, LED light conditions the skin with photo-pulsations. It is different from laser technology as it doesn’t cut any of the body’s tissues and has no harmful UV components.

How does LED light therapy work?

Using specific wavelengths of light, red, blue, green, yellow and near-infrared we can deliver clinically proven doses of light energy to target receptors within our cells. When these receptors are stimulated, cellular activity is increased causing many different natural body processes to be activated.

LED light therapy is a soothing, deeply penetrating, and rejuvenating therapy, a non-invasive skin renewal treatment.

Why do different colours work differently?

It’s all about the wavelength of light. Light waves get longer as the spectrum changes from blue light through to red light,

Blue light, having the shortest wavelength, affects the uppermost layer of your skin.

As the wavelength starts to increase through green and yellow the light is able to penetrate deeper into your skin.

Red light travels further into your skin and Near-infrared light penetrates the deepest.

All of this means that each colour is targeting a specific depth under the skin. Each wavelength working with different sets of cells there.

What does each light colour work on?

    Blue Light LED

Destroys surface and near-surface bacteria and reduces sub-cutaneous activity. It can also be used to treat sun damage and premalignant or malignant skin cancer growth. It can be used in the prevention of skin cancer and yo remove both precancerous skin lesions and cancerous skin lesions that haven’t spread to other areas of the body (or metastasized).

    Green Light LED

Green light is used to address uneven skin tone and unwanted pigmentation, reduce inflammation, and improve energy levels. But most of all, green light therapy is great therapy for migraine headaches and acute and chronic pain.

    Yellow Light LED

Yello light stimulates the production of red blood cells. These cells play a vital role in skin healing and skin cell rejuvenation. Because it has a shallow penetration level it is ideal for treating a variety of skin conditions involving redness. It is used to support skin healing, and hydration and soothe inflamed skin.

    Red Light LED

Red light is used to boost collagen and elastin production and enhance circulation and lymphatic flow. The RED light LED treatment is an advanced anti-ageing treatment. it stimulates cellular renewal to firm, smooth and lighten the skin.

    Near-Infrared LED

Near infrared is used for deep cellular regeneration, wound healing, and muscle recovery. Near-infrared contributes to more elastin and collagen that support youthful skin qualities. This therapy promotes good skin texture, heals skin, combats fine lines and wrinkles, and improves skin elasticity.

The benefits of LED Light Therapy

As you can see LED Light Therapy is a certified and proven use of light wavelengths to gently and non-invasively deal with a wide range of cosmetic, preventative and medical issues.
